East Burnley hospital on board with hypnosis for labour
Have you used it? Are you considering it? (Do let me know!)
Currently, the headlines that have caught my attention are all about the SHIP trial which has been conducted in Lancashire and is starting to release its results.
The SHIP trial
The Self-Hypnosis for Intrapartum Pain management (SHIP) trial, an academic field trial of self-hypnosis for women in labour, has released a preliminary report (which I am currently reading and inwardly digesting so I can write about it for you, shortly).
Details, as always, are the important things when it comes to making sense of a trial. The first indications are quite favourable, however. So much so, that the East Burnley hospital which hosted the trial is going to be offering the facility to all its pregnant mums.
The early findings include: more relaxed, calmer, women in labour.
The hypnosis preparation provided in the trial was much shorter than any of our easibirthing® courses (even the basic short course), so the results are all the more satisfying.
